In Genesis 1, God created heaven and earth, light, the firmament, seas, vegetation, the sun, moon, stars, animals, and humanity, then blessed and sanctified the seventh day. He formed Adam from dust, placed him in Eden, commanded him concerning the tree of knowledge, and made Woman from his rib. After Adam and Eve disobeyed, God judged serpent, Eve, and Adam, clothed Adam and Eve, and sent Adam from the garden. He accepted Abel’s offering but rejected Cain’s, judged Cain for his brother’s blood, and marked him for protection. He took Enoch, judged the world with a flood, and established a covenant with Noah, commanding him to build the ark. After the waters subsided, God blessed Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, set the rainbow as a covenant token, and promised not again to destroy all flesh by a flood.

God then scattered humanity at Babel and called Abraham away from his country, promising land, descendants, blessing, and a great nation. He made covenants with Abraham and Isaac, changed the names of Abraham and Sarah, blessed Ishmael, promised Sarah a son, and counted Abraham’s belief as righteousness. He judged Pharaoh and Abimelech, rescued Lot from Sodom’s destruction, and tested Abraham by commanding him to offer Isaac before stopping him. God blessed Isaac, directed him to remain in the land, and renewed the covenant with him. With Jacob, God continued the promises of land and descendants, changed his name to Israel, blessed him, warned Laban, and sent Jacob back to his fathers’ land. He opened Leah’s womb, was with Joseph, blessed Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake, and sent Joseph ahead to preserve life during famine.
