Japheth

Role: son of Noah · First appears: Genesis 5

When Noah was five hundred years old, he begat Japheth alongside Shem and Ham. At the flood, Japheth entered the ark with Noah, Shem, Ham, and their wives: “In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah…”

After the flood, God blessed Japheth and his brothers, commanded them to multiply and replenish the earth, and established a covenant with them through Noah. Noah declared, “God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.” In Genesis 10, Japheth became the father of Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
