The Five Books of Moses

Abel

Role: son of Adam and Eve · First appears: Genesis 4

In Genesis 4, Eve again bore Abel, making him the son of Adam and Eve and the brother of Cain. Abel worshipped God by bringing “the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof,” and God accepted his offering while rejecting Cain’s. Later, when they were in the field, Cain rose against Abel and killed him: “Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.”
