Ham

Role: son of Noah · First appears: Genesis 5

In Genesis 5, when Noah was “five hundred years old,” Ham was begotten alongside Shem and Japheth. In Genesis 7, Ham entered the ark with Noah, Shem, Japheth, and their wives as the flood began.

After the flood, God blessed Ham and his brothers, commanding them to multiply and replenish the earth, and established a covenant with them and their descendants. In Genesis 9, Ham saw Noah’s nakedness and told Shem and Japheth; he was the father of Canaan. By Genesis 10, Ham was father to Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan, and his branch included the descendants of Cush, including Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, Sabtechah, Sheba, and Dedan.
