Ocean

Family: Titans · Role: father of Triptolemus according to Pherecydes · First appears: Apollodorus, Library 1.1

Ocean is one of the Titans, born to Sky and Earth. In Apollodorus, Ocean and Tethys produced the Oceanids Asia, Styx, Electra, Doris, Eurynome, Amphitrite, and Metis; Hesiod likewise presents Tethys as bearing rivers to Ocean, including Nilus, Alpheus, Eridanus, Strymon, Meander, Ister, Phasis, Rhesus, Achelous, Nessus, and Scamander.

His children also include Inachus, Callirrhoe, Meliboea, Pleione, and Asopus. Clymene, Perseis, and Idyia are described as daughters of Ocean, while Peitho and Admete are among the eldest daughters born from Ocean and Tethys. According to Pherecydes, Ocean is the father of Triptolemus with Earth.
