Clymene

Role: person · First appears: Apollodorus, Library 2.1

🌐 Also appears in: The Metamorphoses of Ovid (as Clymene)

In Apollodorus, Clymene is the daughter of Catreus and sister of Aerope, Apemosyne, and Althaemenes. Catreus gave her and Aerope to Nauplius to be sold abroad, after which “Clymene became the wife of Nauplius,” who fathered Palamedes, Oeax, and Nausimedon by her.

Apollodorus also names a Clymene as the daughter of Minyas and mother of Atalanta by Iasus. In Hesiod, Clymene is instead the daughter of Ocean and wife of Iapetus, with whom she had Atlas, Menoetius, Prometheus, and Epimetheus.
