Sky

Family: Primordial gods · Role: ruler of the whole world · First appears: Apollodorus, Library 1.1

Sky was the first ruler of the whole world. He wedded Earth and fathered the Hundred-handed—Briareos, Gyes, and Cottus—then the Cyclopes Arges, Steropes, and Brontes, and the Titans Ocean, Coeus, Hyperion, Crius, Iapetus, and Cronus, along with the Titanides Tethys, Rhea, Themis, Mnemosyne, Phoebe, Dione, Theia. “Sky was the first who ruled over the whole world. And having wedded Earth, he begat first the Hundred-handed”

Sky bound and cast the Hundred-handed and Cyclopes into Tartarus. Grieving for her children, Earth persuaded the Titans to attack him; all but Ocean joined the assault, and Cronus overthrew Sky with an adamantine sickle, cutting off his genitals and throwing them into the sea. Later, Earth brought forth the giants Porphyrion and Alcyoneus by Sky.
