Asopus
Role: river god · First appears: Apollodorus, Library 1.9
Asopus is a river god. In Apollodorus’s earlier references, Aegina and Ismene are named as his daughters. Later, his parentage is given in several versions: he is the son of Ocean and Tethys, or of Pero and Poseidon, or of Zeus and Eurynome.
Asopus married Metope, daughter of the river Ladon. She bore him two sons, Ismenus and Pelagon, and twenty daughters, including Aegina. Asopus later came to Corinth and learned from Sisyphus that Zeus was the ravisher of Aegina.
