Rhesus

Family: Trojan · Role: ally · First appears: Apollodorus, Library 1.3

🌐 Also appears in: The Iliad (as Rhesus) · Greek Tragedy — The Same Myth, Three Voices (as Rhesus)

Rhesus is a Trojan ally. Apollodorus says that Euterpe bore him by the river Strymon, though some traditions name Calliope as his mother; Hesiod’s genealogy lists him among the offspring of Tethys and Ocean.

At Troy, Rhesus was an enemy of Diomedes and Odysseus. During a night raid, the two spies killed Dolon and Rhesus, the Thracian: “whom Diomedes slew at Troy”.
