Skadi
Also known as: Skade · Family: Æsir · Role: goddess · First appears: Elder Edda · The Lay of Grimnir · Part 1
In the Lay of Grimnir, Skadi lives in her father Thjasse’s ancient home at Thrymheim; the Journey or Lay of Skirnir identifies Frey as her son. In the Fooling of Gylfe, Njord takes Skade as his wife, and they agree to divide their time between Thrymheim and Noatun. She goes to live in Thrymheim, while in Brage’s Talk she chooses Njord as her husband under the asas’ settlement, identifying his beautiful feet as the reason for her choice.
In Oegir’s Compotation, Skadi fastens a venomous serpent above Loki’s face. In the Poetical Diction, she is among the asynjes who accompany Odin and the gods to Æger’s feast after his invitation.
