Idun
Family: Æsir · Role: Bragi's wife · First appears: Elder Edda · Oegir's Compotation, or Loki's Altercation · Part 1
In the Fooling of Gylfe, Brage is identified as Idun’s husband. In Brage’s Talk, Loke coaxed her out of Asgard to compare apples, and Thjasse, in the guise of an eagle, seized her and carried her to Thrymheim. Her disappearance left the asas gray-haired and old.
Threatened with death or torture, Loke promised to bring Idun back and borrowed Freyja’s falcon-guise. While Thjasse was out at sea, Loke turned Idun into a nut and flew away with her. In Poetical Diction, she is described as the giant’s booty, and the gods’ aging is linked to her having gone to the giants.
After three months, Idun was among the asynjes who went with Odin and the gods to Æger’s feast.
