Joseph
Family: Jacob's family · Role: son · First appears: The Birth Of Jacob's Children
On New Year’s Day, Rachel gave birth to Joseph; “Rachel called her son Joseph.” About this time, his birth prompted Jacob to prepare for the journey home. When Jacob met Esau, he placed Rachel and Joseph at the rear of the family procession: Joseph walked in front of his mother, though Jacob had ordered the reverse.
On the third day of the war with the Ninevites, Jacob and his sons routed the enemy. On their return, Naphtali found Joseph still fighting the Ninevite army and joined him, helping drive off his attackers.
