Per-Developer

Priced per developer count. Most common.

Per-Project

Use in a single project / product only. Suitable: you only integrate Rho on one product line.

Source-Code License (one-time)

Embed @rho/md in your commercial product (your product is licensed to end customers).

Pricing / discounts

Startup discount

< 10 people + pre-Series-B startup → 30-50% off standard pricing. How to apply: email with recent funding documents / business registration.

Multi-year discount

Sign a 2-year contract → 10-15% off Sign a 3-year contract → 20-25% off

Academic / Edu discount (when your use case crosses into commercial)

University doing commercial spinoff, paid edu platform → 50% off standard.

Educational institution volume

University system / school district bulk purchase → 60-80% off.

What's included

Each commercial license includes:

  • ✅ Commercial use of @rho/md library (no feature restrictions)
  • ✅ Internal deploy + customer-facing deployment
  • ✅ Minor / patch updates (free during license term)
  • ✅ Email support (response time per SLA)
  • ✅ Spec compatibility guarantee during license term

Not included (except Source-Code License):

  • ❌ Source code access (unless source-code license)
  • ❌ Right to modify and redistribute
  • ❌ Major version upgrades (v2.0, v3.0 etc. require renewing license)

Contract term

  • Default: 1 year
  • Multi-year option: 2 / 3 year (with discount)
  • Auto-renewal: enabled by default; opt-out 30 days before

Payment

  • Accepted: credit card, bank transfer, PayPal
  • Currency: USD (default) / CNY / EUR / GBP (converted at exchange rate)
  • Net terms: standard net-30; large customers can negotiate net-60

Refunds

  • 30-day money-back: full refund within 30 days of activation if not satisfied
  • After 30 days: pro-rated refund for remaining months

Legal / compliance

  • Jurisdiction: defaults to dual China / US jurisdiction (depending on signing parties)

  • SOC 2 / ISO 27001: planned, 2026-Q4 completion
  • HIPAA / PCI: not currently supported

FAQ

Q: One-time payment or annual subscription?

Subscription is default. One-time source-code license also accepted.

Q: Trial period?

Yes. 30-day evaluation doesn't require payment — npm install stl-md directly; pay before formal productization.

Q: If our company shuts down / stops using the license — refund?

Pro-rated based on remaining months.

Q: Are global subsidiaries covered by the same license?

Yes. Per-developer / Per-project license covers all employees of the same global entity. Multi-entity is calculated separately.

Q: An OSS project benefits indirectly from our company's commercial @rho/md license — OK?

Yes. The commercial license covers your company's developers' usage scope — them doing OSS projects counts as their work.

Q: Our company uses @rho/md only in test environments, never in production — license needed?

✅ Test / eval environments are free long-term. ⚠️ If "testing" extends into quasi-production (employees using it daily), it counts as production.
