Pílsam

Also known as: Pílsum · Family: Túrán · Role: warrior · First appears: The Return of Kai-káús · Part 2

In the Story of Saiáwush, Pílsam, brother of Pírán, persuaded Afrásiyáb to abandon his plan to kill Saiáwush and take him back to the palace. After Saiáwush’s death, Pílsam buried him “with respect and affection.” Afrásiyáb later promised him his daughter and half his kingdom if he subdued Rustem, but Pílsam’s efforts against Rustem failed.

In Súsen and Afrásiyáb, Afrásiyáb appointed Pílsam to accompany Súsen. At the fort, Pílsam captured Tús and secretly carried him inside. When Zál broke down the gate, Pílsam fought him; Ferámurz then took Zál’s place and fought Pílsam until nightfall. Rustem struck Pílsam dead in battle.
