Tús
Family: Irán · Role: warrior · First appears: Afrásiyáb marches against Nauder
Nauder sent his sons Tús and Gustahem with his household to Irán to take refuge on Alberz. When Afrásiyáb sought to seize them, the brothers fled to Sístán and lived under Zál’s protection. Tús later joined the warriors who welcomed Rustem at Mázinderán and set out with him and Gúdarz to help Kai-káús.
In the Story of Saiáwush, Kai-káús appointed Tús to lead the Persian army against Afrásiyáb. Tús and Gíw quarrelled over a damsel, while later he refused to acknowledge Kai-khosráu and declared his allegiance to Fríburz. When Gúdarz brought an armed force against him, Tús prepared to resist but was reluctant to begin a civil war; he and Fríburz later returned defeated from Bahmen.
In Kai-khosráu, Tús’s force entered Ferúd’s territory, and after Ríú was killed, Tús besieged Ferúd’s fort. Ferúd’s attack killed Tús’s horse and unhorsed him; afterward Kai-khosráu had Tús bound and imprisoned, but later released him. Tús commanded troops against Pírán and was later captured with Fríburz by Barzú. At midnight, Rustem and Gustahem freed them and led them back to Kai-khosráu.
In Súsen and Afrásiyáb, Tús’s dispute with Gúdarz at a feast became so heated that he drew his dagger, but Rehám prevented bloodshed. Tús left in anger; later, while travelling, he entered Súsen’s residence and was bound and taken into a fort by Pílsam. Before Kai-khosráu’s departure, the king gave Tús Khorassán. Tús continued accompanying him, but was among the warriors overwhelmed by snow and killed.
