Nicolochus
Family: Lacedaemonians · Role: vice-admiral · First appears: Book 5, section 1, part 1/3
After Antalcidas collected Gorgopas’s ships at Aegina and sent him back with twelve vessels, he appointed Nicolochus vice-admiral to command the rest of the fleet. Sailing to relieve Abydos, Nicolochus detoured to ravage Tenedos and used the proceeds to continue there. At Abydos, his fleet was blockaded by Iphicrates and Diotimus.
In 375 B.C. at Alyzia, Nicolochus gave battle to Timotheus with fifty-five ships against the enemy’s sixty, though six Ambraciot vessels were absent; his fleet was defeated, and Timotheus set up a trophy. Nicolochus later sailed back to Alyzia, but when Timotheus refused to meet him, Nicolochus set up a trophy on nearby islands.
