Nero Caesar (son of Germanicus)
Also known as: Nero / Nero Caesar · Family: Julio-Claudian · Role: grandson of Tiberius · First appears: Tiberius 54
Nero was one of the sons of Germanicus and Agrippina the Elder, and the elder brother of Drusus Caesar (son of Germanicus). He was also a brother of Caligula, Drusilla, and Livilla, and a grandson of Tiberius. Domitius was his father.
Under Tiberius, Nero and Drusus Caesar (son of Germanicus) were commended to the senate and solemnly introduced into the forum, where money was distributed among the people. Tiberius later accused them of scandalous vices in a letter to the senate; they were declared public enemies, and Nero was starved to death on the island of Ponza.
The family account records Nero among the six children who survived Germanicus, alongside Agrippina the Younger, Drusilla, Livilla, Drusus Caesar (son of Germanicus), and Caligula. Lucius Vitellius is also connected with Nero through the account of his excessive flattery toward Caligula.
