Milcah
Family: Nahor's family · Role: consort of Nahor · First appears: Genesis 11
In Genesis 11, Milcah is identified as Haran’s daughter and the sister of Lot and Iscah. She married Nahor, alongside Abram’s marriage to Sarai.
In Genesis 22, Milcah’s household with Nahor had expanded through eight children: Huz, Buz, Kemuel, Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel, who became the father of Rebekah. The account says, “these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor,” while Reumah also bore children to Nahor. In Genesis 24, Milcah was among those who blessed Rebekah, saying, “Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions.”
In Numbers, Milcah is named as one of Zelophehad’s daughters, alongside Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, and Tirzah. Their cause was brought before God by Moses, and God granted them an inheritance among their father’s brethren. He later commanded that they marry within their father’s tribe, and Milcah and her sisters married their cousins, keeping their inheritance within Manasseh.
