Zebulon
Family: Jacob's Family · Role: brother of Joseph · First appears: Joseph Cast Into The Pit
In the year of Joseph’s misfortune, Zebulon married Maroshah, daughter of Molad, a grandson of Midian. When Joseph was cast into the pit, Zebulon lamented and wept with him. In his testament, he recalled pleading with his brothers not to kill Joseph: “When they planned to kill Joseph, I besought them amid tears not to sin thus.”
At Canaan, Zebulon recalled building a boat to fish for his father Jacob, sharing his catch with poor strangers, and preparing food for the sick and elderly. For five years, he fished in summer and pastured flocks with his brothers in winter. Later, at Raamses, Jacob summoned his sons from Egypt and blessed Zebulon, whose blessing was to conquer the seacoast as far as Zidon. After giving his sons a final exhortation, Zebulon died; he was later carried to Hebron and buried beside his fathers.
