Credhe
Family: Tuatha de Danaan · Role: woman of the Sidhe · First appears: The Fianna · The Battle of the White Strand · Cael and Credhe
At Loch Cuire, Cael asked Credhe to marry him and sang the poem she required of suitors. She took him for her husband, and the Fianna stayed for seven days at their wedding-feast.
When the Fianna vowed to defend Ireland against the foreigners, Credhe gave them battle dress and went with them. Through the battle, which lasted a year and a day, she brought a great herd of cattle, supplied them with fresh milk, and had the wounded brought to her house for healing. After making her lament, she lay beside Cael and died of grief; they were buried in one grave, and Caoilte raised the stone over them.
