Set
Family: Egyptian gods · Role: god · First appears: The History of Creation — A
In the History of Creation A, Keb and Nut brought forth Set at one birth with Osiris, Heru-khent-an-maati, Isis and Nephthys. In version B, Shu and Tefnut brought forth Set and those other gods.
In the Legend of Horus of Behutet and the Winged Disk, Heru-Behutet defeated Set at Pa-Rerehtu and brought him bound before Ra. Ra then gave Set and the enemies over to Isis and her son Horus. Horus cut off Set’s head and dragged him through his territory; later, Set entered the earth unseen in the form of a hissing serpent, while Horus took up his abode at Hemhemet with Isis. In the Narrative of Isis on the Metternich stele, Isis says that Set had placed her in a dwelling or prison.
