Nadab
Family: Israel · Role: son of Aaron · First appears: Exodus 6
In Exodus 6, Elisheba bore Nadab, Aaron’s son, along with Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. In Exodus 24, God commanded Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the elders of Israel to come up and worship afar off.
In Exodus 28, Nadab and his brothers were appointed with Aaron to minister in the priest’s office. God commanded that they be anointed, consecrated, and sanctified for priestly service. In Leviticus 10, God sent fire that devoured Nadab and Abihu after they offered strange fire before the LORD, and Mishael and Elzaphan carried their bodies out of the camp as Moses had commanded.
Numbers 3 records Nadab and Abihu’s death again, while naming Aaron’s sons as priests who were anointed and consecrated. The Levites were assigned to Aaron and his sons for tabernacle service, and Moses gave redeemed money to Aaron and his sons according to the LORD’s command.
