Nuada
Also known as: Nuada Argat-lamh / Nuada of the Silver Hand / Nuada of the Tuatha de Danaan · Family: Tuatha de Danaan · Role: king · First appears: The Gods · The Coming of the Tuatha de Danaan · The Fight with the Firbolgs · Part 1
When the Tuatha de Danaan came through the air to Ireland on the first day of Beltaine, Nuada was their king, and Ogma was his brother. In battle with Sreng, Nuada won but lost his arm; because of the loss, he was removed from the kingship. Diancecht made him a silver arm, giving him the name Nuada Argat-lamh, and Miach later restored his severed hand and healed him. Once Nuada was well again, the Tuatha de Danaan made Bres give up the kingship, and Nuada returned to it.
At a feast at Teamhair, Nuada admitted Lugh after he won every chess game, saying, “Let him in, for the like of him never came into Teamhair before.” He then left his throne for Lugh for thirteen days so that the others could hear his advice. Nuada was killed by Balor at Magh Tuireadh, where Macha also fell. His children included Tadg, Gaible, and Echtge.
