Iucharba

Family: Sons of Tuireann · Role: son of Tuireann · First appears: The Gods · Lugh of the Long Hand · The Sons of Tuireann · Part 2

As a son of Tuireann and brother of Brian and Iuchar, Iucharba joined them in pursuing Cian after Brian transformed his brothers into hounds. At Teamhair, when Lugh publicly confronted the sons of Tuireann over his father’s death, Iucharba agreed with Iuchar that they should acknowledge the killing; Brian denied it but offered a fine as though they had done it. Lugh named the fine he demanded, and the brothers set out to gather it.

In Ioruaidh, Iucharba fought alongside his brothers against the men of the country. Easal hosted the sons of Tuireann and accompanied them to ask the King of Ioruaidh for the whelp; after Brian defeated and bound the king, they received the whelp, released him, and made peace. Lugh then cast a spell that made them forget the rest of the unfinished fine and long to return to Ireland. At Brugh na Boinn, the brothers told the king they had obtained the fine and asked where Lugh was so they could give it to him.
