The Peloponnesian War

Damagon

Family: Lacedaemonians · Role: founder of Heraclea · First appears: Book 3 · Chapter 11 · Part 1

About this time, Damagon joined Leon and Alcidas as one of the three Lacedaemonians leading the founding of Heraclea. After the settlement was established, they fortified the city, which was then called Heraclea. The Lacedaemonian governors’ harsh and sometimes unfair rule drove away most of the inhabitants, weakening the colony and making it easier for its neighbours to prevail against them.
