Ethlinn
Role: mother of Lugh · First appears: The Gods · Lugh of the Long Hand · The Coming of Lugh · Part 1
A Druid foretold that Balor would die by his grandson, so he shut his only child, Ethlinn, in a tower on the Island of the Tower of Glass. She gave Cian her love when she saw him, saying his face was the one she had seen in her dreams. When her time came, she gave birth to Lugh; Balor ordered that the child be thrown into the sea.
After the battle of Magh Tuireadh, Lugh brought his mother to Teamhair and gave her in marriage to Tadg, son of Nuada. Their daughters were Muirne, mother of Finn, and Tuiren, mother of Bran.
