Sicanus
Family: Syracusan · Role: commander · First appears: Book 6 · Chapter 20 · Part 2
In Book 6, the Syracusans elected Sicanus, son of Execestes, as one of their generals alongside Hermocrates and Heraclides. In Book 7, he arrived at Syracuse with Gylippus, then failed to gain Agrigentum after the Syracusan-friendly party was driven out while he was still at Gela.
Later in Book 7, Sicanus commanded one wing of the Syracusan fleet with Agatharchus, while Pythen and the Corinthians held the centre. The fleet fought the Athenians across the harbour; the victorious Syracusans and their allies recovered their dead and wrecks and set up a trophy.
