Joshua

Family: Judah · Role: high priest · First appears: Haggai 1

Joshua, the high priest of Judah and son of Josedech, received God’s message through Haggai in the second year of Darius. God commanded the people to gather wood and rebuild the LORD’s house, and Joshua obeyed with Zerubbabel and the remnant of the people. God stirred Joshua’s spirit as the work began, and later commanded him to be strong and work, saying, “be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work.”

In Zechariah 3, Joshua stood before the angel of God while Satan resisted him. God removed Joshua’s iniquity and clothed him in clean raiment, then promised that if he walked in God’s ways and kept His charge, he would judge God’s house and keep His courts. In Zechariah 6, God commanded Zechariah to place silver and gold crowns on Joshua’s head; The BRANCH was described as a priest upon his throne, with a counsel of peace between them.
