Haggai

Family: Judah · Role: prophet · First appears: Haggai 1

In the second year of Darius’s reign, in the sixth month, God sent Haggai to deliver a message to Zerubbabel and Joshua. “came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,” Haggai conveyed God’s command to gather wood and rebuild the LORD’s house.

On the twenty-fourth day of that month, Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the people obeyed God’s message and began working on the house. In Haggai 2, God again commanded Haggai to speak to Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the rest of the people.
