Themis
Family: Titanides · First appears: Apollodorus, Library 1.1
🌐 Also appears in: The Metamorphoses of Ovid (as Themis) · Greek Tragedy — The Same Myth, Three Voices (as Themis)
After Earth and Heaven produced the first generation of Titans, Themis was among their children, alongside Oceanus, Coeus, Crius, Hyperion, Iapetus, Theia, Rhea, Mnemosyne, Phoebe, and Tethys. She is also named as a daughter of Sky.
Themis later married Zeus and became the mother of the Seasons—Eirene, Eunomia, and Dike—and the Fates, Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropus, called Atropos by Hesiod. At Delphi, Themis delivered oracles until Apollo killed the guarding snake Python and took over the oracle.
