In Egypt, Pharaoh sent Abraham lavish gifts and gave him a residence in the royal palace. He also gave Sarah a marriage contract, deeding her his possessions and the province of Goshen, and gave his daughter Hagar to Sarah as a slave.

During the night, when Pharaoh tried to approach Sarah, an angel struck his hand whenever he touched her shoe. Pharaoh, his court, and even the walls and bed of his house were afflicted with leprosy. He then summoned Abraham and returned Sarah to him “pure and untouched.”
