Hagar
Also known as: Keturah · First appears: His Sojourn In Egypt
In Egypt, Pharaoh gave his daughter Hagar to Sarah as a slave. Later, Sarah freed Hagar and gave her to Abraham as a wife, and he accepted. After becoming pregnant, Hagar treated Sarah contemptuously; Sarah then exacted slave services from her and tormented her. Hagar fled after losing her unborn child, but angels told her to return and promised she would bear a son named Ishmael.
Later, Abraham divorced Hagar and sent her away with Ishmael. When Ishmael became sick and feverish, Hagar carried him; afterward, she journeyed with him to Egypt to choose a wife for him. After Sarah’s death, Hagar bore Abraham a daughter and six sons. Also known as Keturah, she was the grandmother of Epher, who invaded Libya and took possession of the country.
