Pausanias' Description of Greece

Phalces

Family: Temenid · Role: son of Temenus · First appears: Book 2 · Chapter 6

In Book 2, Chapter 6, Phalces, son of Temenus, seized Sicyon by night with the Dorians. He spared Lacestades, another descendant of Hercules, and shared the royal power with him. In Chapter 11, he built the temple of Hera the Guide after Hera guided him toward Sicyon.

In Chapter 28, Phalces and Cerynes went to Epidaurus to take their sister Hyrnetho from Deiphontes, whom she affirmed as her husband. When she resisted their attempt to carry her off, Deiphontes killed Cerynes with an arrow and closed with Phalces to reclaim her. Phalces pulled Hyrnetho too violently and killed her; he then fled in the travelling carriage before the Epidaurians could catch up.
