Sicyon
Role: mythical king · First appears: Book 2 · Chapter 1
In Book 2, Chapter 1, Marathon is named as Sicyon’s father, and Sicyon gives Asopia its name as Sicyonia. Chapter 6 gives other accounts of his parentage: he is described as the son of Metion, whom it identifies as the son of Erechtheus; Hesiod represents him as the son of Erechtheus, while Ibycus says he was the son of Pelops. Sicyon also had a daughter, Chthonophyle.
In Chapter 6, Lamedon invited Sicyon from Attica to help him during a war with Archander and Architeles, then gave him his daughter Zeuxippe in marriage. Sicyon became king, and the region and town took their names from him.
