Alcamenes
Family: Lacedaemonians · Role: commander · First appears: Book 8 · Chapter 24 · Part 1
During the winter, Agis sent Alcamenes, son of Sthenelaidas, from Lacedaemon to command in Euboea. When Agis deferred that operation and arranged for a revolt in Lesbos, he appointed Alcamenes governor instead. At the beginning of the next summer, the allies assigned him command of the expedition to Lesbos, after Chalcideus’s expedition to Chios and before Clearchus’s to the Hellespont.
At Spiraeum, the Athenians defeated the Peloponnesians and killed Alcamenes, their commander.
