Lamech (Cain's descendant)
Also known as: Lamech · Role: great-grandson of Cain · First appears: The Descendants Of Cain
In the seventh generation, Lamech (Cain's descendant) killed his ancestor Cain while hunting, mistaking him for game. His young son, who guided him and pointed out the quarry, recognized that the fallen figure resembled a human and had a horn on its forehead. When Lamech realized he had killed Cain, he struck his hands together in despair and inadvertently killed his son.
Adah and Zillah wanted to separate from Lamech after these deaths, but he argued that, since he had killed without intent, he might escape the punishment Cain had faced; Adam heard the case and decided in Lamech’s favor. In the generation of the deluge, Lamech had both wives: Adah bore Jabal and Jubal, while Zillah bore Tubal-cain and Naamah.
