Zipporah
Family: Midianite · Role: daughter of Reuel · First appears: Exodus 2
Zipporah, a Midianite and daughter of Reuel, married Moses in Exodus 2: “And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.” She bore him a son, Gershom, whom Moses named because he had been a stranger in a strange land.
In Exodus 4, at the inn, Zipporah circumcised her son with a sharp stone, after which God released Moses from the threat of death. By Exodus 18, Jethro had taken Zipporah, Moses’ wife, after he had sent her back, and then brought her and Moses’ sons, Gershom and Eliezer, to Moses in the wilderness.
