Odin
Role: father of Sigi · First appears: Chapter I · Of Sigi, the Son of Odin
In Chapter I, Odin accompanied Sigi, his son, when Sigi was driven from the land, staying with him until they reached war-ships. In Chapter XIII, Odin guided Sigurd to choose Grani, a horse of Sleipnir’s kin, and urged him to nourish the horse heedfully.
In Chapter XIV, Odin, Loki and Hoenir came to Hreidmar’s house with the otter they had taken. Hreidmar seized them and demanded the otter skin filled and covered with gold as ransom. In Chapter XX, Brynhild said that after she slew Helm Gunnar in the fight against Agnar, Odin punished her with sleep and decreed that she should be given in marriage.
In the Second Lay of Helgi Hundings-bane, Dag sacrificed to Odin and asked to avenge his father; Odin lent him his spear. The lay also tells how Odin made Helgi lord of all things in Valhall, even as himself. The Hell-Ride of Brynhild tells how Odin enclosed Brynhild in a shield-wall at Skata grove and bade that only one who knew no fear should awaken her.
