Nayénezgani

Also known as: Slayer of the Alien Gods · Role: elder of the two brothers; Slayer of the Alien Gods · First appears: Origin Legend III: The War Gods · Part 1

In Origin Legend III: The War Gods · Part 1, Estsánatlehi’s child was born first: the elder of the two brothers. By the end of four days, he and To`badzistsíni had grown to the size of twelve-year-old boys. They lost their first race against Hastséyalti and the gods, but after four days of training the elder brother won the next contest. When they set out toward the house of their father, Tsóhanoai, Spider Woman gave the brothers a charm and taught them words that helped them pass the dangers along the way. Ni'ltsi also helped them, and Tsóhanoai tested them with spikes, the sweat-house and poisoned smoke before acknowledging, “Yes, these are my children.” He gave the brothers weapons and iron clothing.

The brothers sought war with their enemies. The elder brother struck down Yéitso, and ever after he was called Nayénezgani (Slayer of the Alien Gods). He went on to defeat Téelget, the male and female [[Tsena'hale]], [[Tsetahotsiltáli]], and other enemies, receiving help or trophies from [[Nasi'zi]], [[Hazaí]] and [[the Bat Woman]]. In Origin Legend III: The War Gods · Part 10, he spared [[Tsénagahi]] after it promised to help the people; in Parts 11 and 12 he also spared San (Old Age), Hakáz Estsán, Poverty (the old man), Poverty (the old woman) and the chief of the Hunger People. When Tsóhanoai asked whether he had slain all the anáye, Nayénezgani answered that he thought he had killed “all that should die.” After Estsánatlehi departed, Nayénezgani and Tobadzistsíni went to Toye'tli and made their dwelling there.

In Nati'nesthani · Part 3, Nayénezgani allowed Nati'nesthani to continue his journey to To`ye'tli.
