To`badzistsíni
Also known as: Naídikisi · Role: younger of the two brothers; Child of the Water · First appears: Origin Legend III: The War Gods · Part 1
In Origin Legend III: The War Gods · Part 1, Yolkaí Estsán bore To`badzistsíni after Estsánatlehi explained that the child had come from lying under the waterfall. By the end of four days in Part 2, he and Nayénezgani had grown to the size of twelve-year-old boys. They lost the first race, then practiced for four days and won the next; after asking who their fathers were, they were told they had none. Despite warnings, the brothers traveled in each direction, and when Yéitso came, the women hid them under bundles and sticks.
In Part 3, the brothers left before daybreak and followed a holy trail toward their father, Tsóhanoai. Spider Woman gave them a charm and taught them words to subdue their enemies. Using these, they passed safely through the rocks, reeds, cane cactuses, and sands. In Part 4, they calmed the guardians of Tsóhanoai’s house and endured his trials by spikes, heat, and smoke. Tsóhanoai acknowledged them as his children, and in Part 5 gave each brother iron clothing and weapons. Guided by Ni'ltsi, they crossed a rainbow bridge and chose the red stone wands to ascend. After they fought Yéitso in Part 6, To`badzistsíni scalped the fallen enemy, and Nayénezgani gave him the warrior name Naídikisi.
In Part 10, Tsóhanoai asked the brothers to send their mother, Estsánatlehi, west to make him a new home. Tobadzistsíni refused to promise on her behalf, saying she “is her own mistress,” but agreed to convey Tsóhanoai’s wishes and plead for him. In Part 13, after Estsánatlehi had departed, Tobadzistsíni and Nayénezgani went to To`ye'tli, where two rivers join, and made their dwelling.
