Glaphyra

Family: Herod's family · Role: wife of Alexander · First appears: Book I, Chapter 24

In Book I, Chapter 24, Glaphyra was married to Alexander, son of Herod, and was described as descended on her father’s side from Temenus and on her mother’s side from Darius, son of Hystaspes. Alexander had two sons by her, Tigranes and Alexander. After Alexander was killed, Herod sent Glaphyra back to Cappadocia with her portion: “As for Glaphyra, Herod, as soon as he had killed Alexander, sent her back, together with her portion, to Cappadocia.”
