Navaho Legends

the girl made of corn (Origin Legend IV)

First appears: Origin Legend IV: Growth of the Navaho Nation · Part 1

In Origin Legend IV: Growth of the Navaho Nation · Part 1, the gods changed a white ear of corn into a man and a yellow ear into a woman. Ni'ltsi gave the pair life, Tse`gádinatini Asiké furnished them with minds, and the Grasshopper Girl gave them voices. Yolkaí Estsán led the newly made man and woman into her hogán.

In Part 2, Yolkaí Estsán married the girl made of corn to Hadáhonige Asiké, the Mirage Boy, since she and the boy made of corn were siblings. After a time, the couple had a boy and a girl. When the children were old enough to run around, the family moved from Hadzinaí to Tselakaíia. After [[Yolkaí Estsán]] had received a second visit from [[Hastséyalti]], she told the little girl she was going to Tsegíhi, then disappeared from her sight.
