Sir Fergus
Also known as: Earl Fergus / Fergus · Family: Cornwall · Role: earl · First appears: Book IV, Chapter XXV
In Book IV, Chapter XXV, Sir Fergus was a young man newly come into his lands, troubled by the giant Taulurd, who destroyed his lands and kept him from travelling. He made his complaint while Sir Marhaus dwelled with him for nearly half a year; the next morning, Sir Marhaus fought Taulurd and severed his right arm. Sir Tristram had also slain Taulas, Sir Fergus’s brother, while out of his mind, and Sir Fergus later became Sir Tristram’s knight.
By Book IX, Sir Tristram met Sir Fergus again as a knight of his own. When King Mark sought Sir Tristram’s execution, Sir Fergus joined Sir Dinas in refusing to consent; nevertheless, the council banished Sir Tristram from Cornwall for ten years. In Book X, Sir Fergus mourned the death of Prince Boudwin and, with Sir Tristram and Sir Dinas, held no ill will toward Sir Sadok.
