The Peloponnesian War

Pharnabazus

Family: Persian · Role: satrap · First appears: Book 2 · Chapter 7 · Part 4

In Book 2, Pharnabazus was to send people entrusted to him up-country to the King. By Book 8, Calligeitus and Timagoras son of Athenagoras, exiles living at his court, had arrived at Lacedaemon on a mission from him to procure a fleet for the Hellespont.

At Abydos, the city revolted to Dercyllidas and Pharnabazus. Later, Pharnabazus urged Mindarus to bring the fleet to the Hellespont; in the summer, Mindarus left Miletus with seventy-three ships and sailed there.
