Callias
Family: Athenian · Role: general · First appears: Book 1 · Chapter 2 · Part 1
In Book 1, Callias is identified as the father of Callicrates, who commanded part of the Corinthian fleet sent to fight the Corcyraeans at Epidamnus. The Corcyraeans defeated the fleet that same day at Actium.
Later in Book 1, Callias commanded Athenian forces against the Potidæans and their allies. The Athenians defeated them, and “Callias their general” was among the 150 Athenian citizens killed. Callias is also identified as the father of Calliades; in Book 3, Hipponicus is named as his son.
