Bede's Ecclesiastical History

Osfrid

Family: Northumbrians · Role: son of Edwin · First appears: Book II · Chap. XIV

In 627, Osfrid was baptized with his brother Eadfrid. He was a son of Edwin and Quenburga, born while Edwin was in banishment, and was baptized among those who believed through Paulinus’s preaching. He was also sibling to Ethelhun, Ethelthryth, and Wuscfrea, and father to Yffi, who was baptized as well.

In 633, during the war against Caedwalla and Penda, Osfrid fell. The account describes him as “a warlike youth” who died in the same war.
