Derdas

Family: Elimia · Role: ruler · First appears: Book 5, section 2, part 3/3

During the campaign against Olynthus, Teleutias sent a warning to Derdas, ruler of Elimia, that Olynthian power threatened him too unless it was checked by force. At Olynthus, Derdas’s cavalry charge helped drive the Olynthian forces back inside the city.

In B.C. 381, at Apollonia, Derdas routed the Olynthian cavalry and pursued them to Olynthus; reports said he killed about eighty men. He and Amyntas also volunteered with exceptional zeal for Agesipolis’s campaign, eager to become known to him.
