Sir Perimones
Also known as: Perimones / Red Knight / the Red Knight · Family: castle · Role: knight · First appears: Book VII, Chapter XII
Sir Perimones, also called the Red Knight, was a knight of the castle and the brother of Sir Persant and Pertolepe. In Book VII, Chapter XII, he was associated with Beaumains as a rival, and Sir Persant referred to him as the brother whom Beaumains had won. At the next feast of Pentecost at Carlion, Perimones came with three score knights and yielded himself and them to King Arthur, alongside his brothers.
In Book VII, Chapter XXVIII, Perimones met Sir Ector in combat, and their blows struck both knights and their horses to the ground. At the feast in Chapter XXXV, he and his knights did homage and fealty to Sir Gareth, whom he asked to appoint him chief butler; Sir Gareth agreed. Later accounts identify Perimones as the Red Knight won by Sir Gareth when he was called Beaumains, and name him among the brothers of Sir Persant and Pertolepe. At Carlisle in Book XX, Chapter VIII, Perimones was slain by Sir Launcelot.
