Eosa
Family: Saxons · Role: kinsman of Hengist · First appears: Book VIII 5–8
In Book VIII 5–8, Eosa, a Saxon and kinsman of Hengist, was among the fugitives admitted to the mercy of Aurelius Ambrosius after Octa’s success. Aurelius Ambrosius granted them the country bordering Scotland and made a firm covenant with them, while Eosa went with Hengist to Alclud, where Hengist had a large army for his guard.
In Book VIII 15–18, Eosa and Octa broke their treaty allegiance and began disturbances against Uther Pendragon. Uther Pendragon defeated the Saxons, captured them, and ordered them imprisoned in London. They later escaped to Germany, raised forces, and returned with a fleet that devastated Albania; after their invasion, the British army was placed under Lot. At Verulam, Uther Pendragon’s forces killed Eosa and Octa, and the Saxons were defeated.
