By MANAWYDDAN THE SON OF LLYR 1, Kicva was married to Pryderi and closely joined with Manawyddan, Pryderi, and Rhiannon, whose friendship kept them together by night and day. At the court of Narberth, a supernatural mist caused the court, its people, animals, and dwellings to vanish. In MANAWYDDAN THE SON OF LLYR 2, Kicva left the palace with Manawyddan for England to seek support, then returned with him to Dyved after the assassination threat. She declared to Manawyddan, “I declare to thee that were I in the dawn of youth I would keep my faith unto Pryderi, and unto thee also will I keep it.”
